New Manager Kit

Nobody trained you to be the boss — $42 once buys the whole first-year operating system

The platforms charge $7–16 per person per month for the 1:1s and feedback you are still improvising: Lattice Performance is $10/seat/month inside a contract with a $4,000/year minimum, 15Five Perform is $11/user/month and its manager coaching starts at $49/manager/month, Fellow runs $7–15/user/month (all checked 2026-09-26). The one-time alternatives are Notion-locked templates at $33–69. This kit is the missing middle: the SETUP → 1:1s → feedback → delegation → rhythm → evidence → quarterly reset loop as 25 plain files. Setup ≈ 90 minutes, then about an hour a week — on paper if you like. One payment of $42 — no subscription.

What's inside the kit

One zip, 25 working files — the 90-day plan with its tracker, the stakeholder map, the 1:1 playbook with a 48-question bank and agenda template, the same-day log CSVs, six feedback scripts in the SBI shape with a difficult-conversation prep page, the delegation scorecard with a one-page handoff brief, the AI prompt pack behind a human fact-check gate, the 30-minute team meeting agenda, the 5-line weekly update, the evidence-first review writing template, and the 8-point quarterly checklist. Markdown, CSV — nothing to install, nothing to subscribe to, works in Notion, Google Docs or on paper.

Plan

The first 90 days, mapped

Three phases with exit tests: listen before you fix (days 1–14), set the rhythm (15–45), adjust the structure (46–90) — plus 7 measurable goals for day 90, a first-message template for managing former peers, and a 5-group stakeholder map with Maya's version filled in beside yours.

1:1s

The 25-minute playbook + 48 questions

Cadence rules (weekly, their topics first, reschedule within the week), the five-part structure, the three logging rules — and 48 questions in 6 sets of 8: openers, progress, blockers, growth, feedback both ways, and the quarterly trust set. The one-page agenda template keeps the proportions honest.

Feedback

Six scripts in the SBI shape

Situation-Behavior-Impact-Invite, as ready-to-adapt scripts: praise, correction, when you lack the full picture, receiving feedback yourself, the one-week follow-up, and feedback to someone more senior — plus the 15-minute difficult-conversation prep page with language that helps and language that hurts.

Delegate

A scorecard, not a gut feeling

Six weighted criteria (task value, reversibility, skill match, development value, headroom, clarity of done — weights sum to 100) sort every task into DELEGATE NOW, COACH FIRST or KEEP. Worked totals you can recompute: 88.75 beats 62.5 beats 37.5 — then the one-page handoff brief with authority levels 1–4.

Rhythm

The weekly machine

One 30-minute team meeting with a 5-segment agenda and published notes, one 5-line Friday update that your boss can forward unedited, and a 20-minute Friday admin block that keeps the logs alive. The meeting earns its slot or loses it — the cancellation rule is written down.

Evidence + reset

Reviews without the scramble

The praise log you keep today is the review you write in six months: evidence entries with dates and impact, a 3-sentence review answer shape with worked examples, 8 AI prompts behind a mandatory fact-check gate — and a 45-minute quarterly audit of the system itself with 8 checks and a reset worksheet.

Three real files from the kit, trimmed to taste: the first 12 questions of the 48-question bank, the SBI structure with the first two feedback scripts, and the 90-day plan cut down to Phase 1. Instant download — no email needed.

What this kit will not tell you

No team-outcome promises. A kit cannot make your team engaged or your reports promoted — anyone promising that is selling you a number. What this kit does: installs the conversations, cadences and records that good management is made of, with worked examples you can copy the shape of.

Business process only — this is not legal advice. The kit deliberately contains nothing about discipline, termination, pay or employment law: those belong to your company's HR process and counsel. The scope file in the pack draws the line in writing, and the review module stays on evidence capture.

English files, real hours. The kit's files are in English, and it is a process, not a robot: 90 minutes to set up, about an hour a week to run for 3–5 reports, 45 minutes a quarter to reset. The hours are yours — the kit just makes them count.

How you'll use it

From "congratulations, it's your team now" to a running system with logs, rhythm and evidence.

Day 1 — setup (90 minutes)

List, book, log

The 7-step SETUP guide walks you through it with a success check per step: write your list, book the weekly 25-minute 1:1s, set up the three logs, fill the stakeholder map, adopt the weekly rhythm. Every file lands where you already work.

Weeks 1–4 — run it

1:1s, first feedback, first handoff

Openers from the question bank in your first round, the 90-day plan's Phase-1 discipline (listen before you fix), the first praise and correction logged the same day — and the first task through the delegation scorecard once it clears 70.

Quarter after quarter

Evidence in, reviews calm

The praise log and 1:1 log accumulate all quarter, so review season becomes a formatting task instead of an archaeology dig. Every 3 months, the 8-point audit and reset worksheet fix the system itself — before it drifts.

One price. Every quarter after the first is free.

No seat count, no annual floor, no per-credit coaching — the pricing models this market already uses enough.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a service, a course, or a software tool?

None of the three — on purpose. A platform rents you the structure by the seat and the month; a course teaches for a weekend and fades; a coach costs $49–399 a session. The daily job — knowing what to ask in the 1:1, how to phrase the correction, which task to hand over — is a set of habits and records. This kit is that habit system as files you own and adapt.

What exactly do I get?

A zip with 25 working files: the START-HERE loop map with time budgets, the 7-step novice SETUP guide, the 90-day plan with tracker CSV and stakeholder map, the 1:1 playbook with 48 questions and agenda template and log CSV, six feedback scripts with the difficult-conversation prep page and feedback log, the delegation scorecard with a one-page handoff brief, 8 AI prompts behind a mandatory fact-check gate, the team meeting agenda, the weekly update template, the praise log and review writing template, the 8-point quarterly checklist with reset worksheet, and the scope-and-disclaimers file. Markdown and CSV — nothing to install.

Will my team perform better?

We can't promise that, and you should be skeptical of anyone who does. What changes with the kit: your 1:1s happen every week with real questions, feedback arrives specific and on time, work moves off your plate by score instead of guilt, and review season runs on evidence you already collected. Better inputs, better odds — the odds are yours to spend.

I'm now managing people who were my peers. Does it help with that?

Yes — that situation is in the worked example on purpose. The 90-day plan includes a first-message template for inheriting former peers, the stakeholder map makes room for the person who used to be your boss, and the feedback scripts include one for someone more senior than you. The awkwardness doesn't vanish; the script for it exists.

I have 8+ reports. Does everything assume five?

No. The playbook covers the veterans-on-biweekly pattern openly and honestly: weekly for new and struggling reports, biweekly for the steady ones, with the move said out loud. The time budget math scales in the file — and the Friday admin block keeps the logs alive at any team size.

Is this HR or legal advice?

No. The kit is business process: conversations, cadence, delegation, records. It deliberately contains nothing on discipline, termination, pay or employment law — the scope file says so in writing and routes those to your HR team and counsel. That line is a feature: it keeps every template safe to adapt.

What is the refund policy?

If the kit doesn't fit how you work, write to us within 14 days of purchase and we refund in full — the files are yours to keep or delete. One refund per purchase; we only ask for optional feedback.

The job changed the day they told you. Give yourself the manual 90 minutes from now.
